Def Memories: are no traces of earlier sensations, but traces of the fact that in the past something was put into a concept or put into words.
>Memory/Quine.
V 176
Language Learning/Past/Future/Quine: what about sentences about past and future? This is the other side of cognitive language. Not that of reference.
Memory/Quine: for example, the disposition to pronounce someone's name when asked in their presence. But that is then again a question of the sentences of observation and not of the past.
Forgetting someone's name means forgetting a piece of language.
>Language Learning/Quine, >Observation Sentences/Quine.
V 177
Past/Observation/Quine: if a term has been learned by definition rather than by conditioning, then it is replaceable by the definiendum. Then it is a composite observation term.
XIII 74

>Future/Quine.},
