Def Implicit definition/Hilbert: here terms are solely determined by which axioms should apply to them - Carnap: this does not define a term, but a class of terms. An "improper term" means an object which is defined ("implicitly") ,by which axioms apply to him - structure: in contrast determines the object clearly. (> description).

Explicit definition/Carnap: Here the new object is no quasi-object (class, complex) with respect to the old object. - When no explicit Def is possible, we need a > Use Definition: with translation rule for quasi-objects - e.g. introduction of the term "prime" - translation rule: must contain variables, otherwise it would be a statement and not applicable to various objects.
