Assertive force/Frege/Dummett: Distinction sentence sense/force: the latter determines whether something is a question, a command, etc. The force determines the conventional significance of the utterance in relation to the relevant facts. Depending on whether it is desired, commanded, questioned, etc.
The force is indispensable for a systematic theory of meaning.
Then it is even secondary whether one has grasped the meaning correctly.
