Definition Likelihood/Lewis: belief in individual documents according to certain hypotheses. - Assessment of evidence under assumptions - the likelihood is fixed regardless of previous belief functions and earlier documents - in a way that the observed frequencies tend to confirm the hypothesis, so that they do not deviate too much from the unit opportunities. - Likelihoods are the end-point opportunities according to the different hypotheses.
