W.V.O. Quine - Philosophy Dictionary of Arguments | |||
W.V.O. Quine (1908-2000), American philosopher and logician in the analytic tradition. His major works include From a Logical Point of View (1953) and Word and Object (1960). His fields of specialization were philosophy of language, epistemology, metaphysics, and logic.

Satisfaction, logic: a formula is satisfied when their variables are interpreted in a way that the formula as a whole is a true statement. The interpretation is a substitution of the variables of the formula by appropriate constants (e.g. names). When the interpreted formula is true, we call it a model.
