E. Tugendhat (1930-2023), German philosopher. His major works include Ti kata tinos. Eine Untersuchung zu Struktur und Ursprung aristotelischer Grundbegriffe (1958), Der Wahrheitsbegriff bei Husserl und Heidegger (1967), and Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die sprachanalytische Philosophie (1976). His fields of specialization were philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, ethics, and political philosophy.

Predicates, philosophy, logic: predicates are symbols that can stand in logical formulas for properties. In fact, not every predicate stands for a property, since it has contradictory predicates, but no contradictory properties. For example, one can think of a predicate "squaround" for "square and round", that is, two properties that exclude each other. One can then truthfully say "Nothing is squaround".
