Hirschman's Exit, Voice and Loyalty (Cambridge, 1970 (1)): The idea that a restriction of competition - in order to strengthen conflict - could be helpful was apparently so cross-eyed ideologically that a differentiated judgement was not possible.(2) See Behavioral Economics/Hirschman.
