Samuel P. Huntington on Islam - Dictionary of Arguments
Brocker I 844 Islam/Huntington: Thesis: The increase in ethnic and religious wars has continued to increase since the end of the Cold War and is now increasingly in the public consciousness. In particular, the antagonism "between local Muslim and non-Muslim populations" (1) appears as proof that above all Islamic culture is involved in numerous local conflicts. Huntington clearly criticizes Islam by accusing Muslims of "problems in living peacefully with their neighbours". (2) In addition to demographic and political changes, he sees the reason for this Islamic hostility in particular in the conflictuality Brocker I 845 of Muslim traditions, which had been instrumentalized especially in the course of the 20th century. Brocker I 846 Huntington again sees the danger of Islamic infiltration in Europe, while multiculturalist tendencies threaten US identity.
