John Locke on Economy - Dictionary of Arguments
Mause I 37 Economy/Locke: Locke owes a specific contribution to the formation of economic theory (...) to his concept of human self ownership as a universal and equal right of freedom and appropriation, which is directed against the absolutist theory of legitimation of divine grace. Locke developed this idea into a theory of work and money that, anticipating later theoretical systematization within economic reflection, analyses human work as a source of value and property, money as its storage and transaction medium.
