Rhetoric: Rhetoric is the art of persuasion. It is the use of language to inform, persuade, or motivate an audience. Some common rhetorical devices include Logos, appealing to the audience's sense of logic and reason; Pathos, appealing to the audience's emotions; Ethos, appealing to the audience's sense of ethics and credibility. Rhetoric/Pareto: Pareto reformulates the problem sociologically by focusing primarily on the social processes that underlie social communication practice and not on the communicative prerequisites for an ideal order of the community. Pareto presents a tableau of sophisticated conclusions, as they occur above all in political mass communication.

These include empty tinkling, sophisms based on authority (1), figures based on agreement with feelings or principles (2), evoking collective interest.
