John Rawls: John Rawls (1921 – 2002) was an American moral, legal, and political philosopher in the liberal tradition. He is best known for his defense of egalitarian liberalism in his major work, A Theory of Justice (1971). Other major works are Political Liberalism (1993), The Law of Peoples (1999), Justice as Fairness - A Restatement (2001).
