Romanticism on Myth - Dictionary of Arguments
Gadamer I 278 Myth/Logos/Romanticism/Gadamer: [There is a] basic schema in the philosophy of history (...) that Romanticism shares with the Enlightenment and which has been consolidated by the Romantic reaction against the Enlightenment into an unshakable premise: the schema of overcoming myth through logos. It is the precondition of the progressive world under which this scheme is valid. It is supposed to represent the step law of the history of the spirit itself, and precisely because Romanticism evaluates this development negatively, it takes the schema itself as a matter of course.
