Totalitarianism/Barber: It is often warned of a possible "tipping over" of a radical democracy into tyrannical or totalitarian rule.
Barber: the opposite is true: it is precisely the "thin democracy" (see Democracy/Barber, Liberalism/Barber), which itself provides a breeding ground for those diseases that are often blamed on "strong" democracy.
