Giorgio Agamben on Totalitarianism - Dictionary of Arguments

Brocker I 821
Democracy/Totalitarianism/Agamben: Thesis: there is an internal solidarity between democracy and totalitarianism. It can be derived from the connection between the concepts of sovereign power and "naked life", which Agamben already mentions in the subtitle of his work. (1) See Life/Agamben, Sovereignty/Agamben.
Brocker I 827
The structural analogy between democracy and totalitarianism lies in the fact that politics has long since become biopolitics - and it is therefore only a matter of managing naked life in both the positive and the negative, whereby classical political distinctions become obsolete at the same time. See Biopolitics/Agamben, Sovereignty/Agamben.
