Samuel P. Huntington on Emancipation - Dictionary of Arguments
Brocker I 839 Emancipation/Huntington: Thesis: the upswing of non-Western cultures in the 21st century is regarded as self-induced, i.e. not attributed to a Western "origin" within these cultural circles, although the use of "soft" power resources in the sense of Joseph Nye(1) contributed to Westernization. This phenomenon of "indigenization"(2) testifies to an emancipation: even if the prosperity of non-Western cultures has grown on the foundation of Western ideas, the new heyday is rather interpreted as the result of independent, cultural achievements. >Culture, >Cultural values, >Cultural tradition, >Society, cf. >Western rationalism. 1.
