Gadamer I 262 HeideggerVsMetaphysics: The questioning that is based on this basic fact that it turns this, is indeed itself a questioning about being, but in a direction that necessarily remained unthought of in all previous questions about the being (German: "Sein") of the being (German: "Seienden"), yes, was even hidden and obscured by the very question about being that is posed by metaphysics. Heidegger/Gadamer: By presenting the question of being as the question of nothingness at the same time, he has linked the beginning and end of metaphysics. The fact that the question of being could arise from the question of nothingness presupposed the thinking of nothing, where metaphysics fails.
