Ontology: is the set of material or immaterial objects, of which a theory assumes that it can make statements about them. According to classical logic, an existence assumption must be assumed. In other fields of knowledge, the question of whether relations really exist or are merely mental constructs, is not always regarded as decisive as long as one can work with them. Immaterial objects are e.g. linguistic structures in linguistics. See also existence, mathematical entities, theoretical entities, theoretical terms, reality, metaphysics, semantic web.

Hans-Georg Gadamer on Ontology - Dictionary of Arguments

I 488
Ontology/Gadamer: [Here] it is (...) about (...) the task to bring to bear the ontological background of the hermeneutical world experience. From the metaphysics of the beautiful, two points in particular will be brought into light, which result from the relationship between the appearance of the beautiful and the comprehensibility of the intelligible.
>Beauty/Gadamer
, >Hermeneutics/Gadamer.
The first is that the appearance of beauty and the mode of understanding are both event-like, and the second is that hermeneutic experience, as an experience of traditional meaning, participates in the immediacy that has always characterized the experience of beauty and all evidence of truth.
1. (...) on the background that the speculation of light and beauty of tradition has given us, the priority that we gave to the doing of the thing within hermeneutical experience can be legitimized. It now becomes clear that this is neither mythology nor a mere dialectical reversal in the style of Hegel, but rather the perpetuation of an ancient moment of truth that can assert itself against modern scientific methodology.
I 490
Let us start out from the ontological basic constitution, according to which being is language, i.e., representing onself, which the hermeneutic experience of being has opened up to us, then, however, not only the event character of the beautiful and the event structure of all understanding follows from it. Just as the mode of being of the beautiful proved to be a preliminary sketch of a general constitution of being, the same will be shown in the associated concept of truth.
>Being/Gadamer, >Truth/Gadamer, >Beauty/Gadamer,
>Hermeneutics/Gadamer, >Language/Gadamer.
