Def Empirically grounded/Theory/Schurz: A theory is empirically grounded if its basal theories have only empirical terms as pre-theoretical terms. Otherwise they would be without empirical assignment and therefore not empirically significant.

Structuralist philosophy of science/structuralism/Schurz: Structuralism rejects the foundation requirement and instead takes a coherentist position, according to which the terms of the basal theories of a theory network are all theoretical in nature, since there are no more pre-theories to explain them.
