Gary S. Becker (1930-2014), American economist. His major works include Human Capital: A Theoretical and Empirical Analysis, with Special Reference to Education (1964), The Economic Approach to Human Behavior (1976), and A Treatise on the Family (1981). His fields of specialization were human capital, economic theory of the family, crime and punishment, discrimination and addiction.
