Allen Buchanan (1948), American moral philosopher and Laureate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona. His major works include Ethics, Efficiency, and the Market (1985), Justice and the Boundaries of Liberty: Contractualism and Constitutionalism (1985), and Market Failure and Medical Ethics: The Case for a Mixed Economy in Health Care (1991). His fields of specialization are normative economics, social justice, contractarianism, constitutionalism, and medical ethics.
