Irving Fisher (1867-1947), American economist, statistician, inventor, eugenicist, and progressive social campaigner. His major works include The Purchasing Power of Money (1911), The Theory of Interest (1930), and Booms and Depressions: Some First Principles (1932). His fields of specialization were monetary economics, macroeconomics, capital theory, and debt deflation.
