| Wilhelm von Humboldt: Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767-1835), Prussian diplomat, philosopher, linguist, and educational reformer. His major works include Über das Studium des Altertums und des Griechischen insbesondere (1793), Ideen zu einem Versuch, die Grenzen der Wirksamkeit des Staates zu bestimmen (1792), and Über den Zusammenhang der grammatischen Formen mit dem Ideengang des Menschen (1836). He mainly worked on linguistics, philosophy, education, and diplomacy.
