Hans Jonas (1903-1993), German-born American philosopher. His major works include Der Begriff der Gnosis (1928), Verantwortung oder Fürsorge? (1979), and Das Prinzip Verantwortung (1979). His fields of specialization were ethics, environmental philosophy, and the philosophy of technology.
