Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914), American philosopher and polymath. His major works include Illustrations of the Logic of Science (1877-1878), Collected Papers (1891-1913), and Semiotics and Significs: The Correspondence Between Charles S. Peirce and Victoria Lady Welby (1977). His fields of specialization were philosophy, logic, mathematics, physics, semiotics, and psychology.
