Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), British philosopher, logician, mathematician, historian, essayist, and social critic. His major works include The Principles of Mathematics (1903), Principia Mathematica (1910–1913), and The Problems of Philosophy (1912). His fields of specialization were logic, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of language, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and political philosophy.
