Joseph A. Schumpeter (1883-1950), Austrian-American economist, economic historian, and author. His major works include Theorie der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung (1911), Kapitalismus, Sozialismus und Demokratie (1942), and Business Cycles: A Theoretical, Historical, and Statistical Analysis of the Capitalist Process (1939). His fields of specialization were economics, economic history, economic development, and business cycle.
