George Sessions (1938), American environmental philosopher and deep ecologist. His major works include Deep Ecology: Living As If Nature Mattered (with Bill Devall, 1985), Ecocentrism: The Basis for a New Environmentalism (1995), and The Great Transition: Shifting from Fossil Fuels to a Steady-State Economy (2004). His fields of specialization are deep ecology, environmental philosophy, ecocentrism, and post-growth economics.
