| Richard Titmuss: Richard Titmuss (1907-1973) was a British social researcher and a leading figure in social policy. He is widely credited with establishing the academic field of social administration in Britain, which is now known as social policy. Titmuss held the first professorship in the subject at the London School of Economics and was an influential advisor on the British welfare state.
