| Demarcation criterion: The demarcation criterion in philosophy of science is a proposed standard for distinguishing between science and non-science. One demarcation criterion is falsifiability, proposed by Karl Popper. This criterion states that a theory is scientific if and only if it is possible to logically deduce observational consequences from it that would falsify it if they were not observed.
