Bernard Bolzano (1781-1848), Bohemian mathematician, logician, philosopher, theologian and Catholic priest of Italian extraction. His major works include Beyträge zu einer begründeteren Darstellung der Mathematik (1810), Der binomische Lehrsatz (1816), and Rein analytischer Beweis des Lehrsatzes, dass zwischen je zwei Werthen, die ein entgegengesetztes Resultat geben, wenigstens eine reelle Wurzel der Gleichung liege (1817). He mainly worked on mathematics, logic, philosophy, and theology.
