Hans Selye (1907-1982), Hungarian-Canadian endocrinologist. Father of stress research. His major works include The General-Adaptation-Syndrome and the Diseases of Adaptation (1950), Stress Without Distress (1974), and Stress in Health and Disease (1976). His fields of specialization were endocrinology, stress research, physiology of stress, pathophysiology of stress-related diseases, and general adaptation syndrome.
