Max Weber (1864-1920), German sociologist, historian, jurist, and political economist. His major works include Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus (1904–05), Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft (1922), and Grundriss der Sozialökonomik (1923). His fields of specialization were sociology, economics, history, and law.
