Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher: Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher (1768 - 1834) was a German theologian, philosopher, publicist, state theorist, church politician and educator. He significantly shaped modern Protestant theology and is the founder of Dialectical Theology. Schleiermacher's theological thought is characterized by the idea that religion is a form of self-experience.
