Wilhelm Dilthey (1833 – 1911), German historian, psychologist, sociologist, and hermeneutic philosopher. His major works include Einleitung in die Geisteswissenschaften (1883), Das Erlebnis und die Dichtung (1906), and Die Typen der Weltanschauung und ihre Ausbildung in den metaphysischen Systemen (1911). His fields of specialization were philosophy of mind, philosophy of history, and philosophy of culture.
