| Alfred Schütz (1899-1959), Austrian-American philosopher and social scientist. His major works include Der sinnhafte Aufbau der sozialen Welt: Eine Einleitung in die verstehende Soziologie (1932), Collected Papers I: The Problem of Social Reality (1962), Collected Papers II: Studies in Social Theory (1964), and Collected Papers III: Studies in Phenomenological Philosophy (1966). His fields of specialization were phenomenology, sociology, and social theory.
