Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860), German philosopher. His major works include Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung (1818), Über die vierfache Wurzel des Satzes vom zureichenden Grunde (1813), and Parerga und Paralipomena: Kleine philosophische Schriften (1851). He mainly worked on epistemology, metaphysics, aesthetics, and ethics.
