Ibn Khaldun: Ibn Khaldun (1332 – 1406) was a Muslim historian, sociologist, philosopher, and economist from Tunis. He is considered one of the founders of sociology and economics, and his work has had a major influence on Western thought. In his work Muqaddimah, Ibn Khaldun developed a number of important concepts, such as the role of social cohesion in the rise and fall of empires.
