Overlapping consensus: Overlapping consensus is a term coined by John Rawls (J. Rawls A Theory of Justice, 1975). It refers to the idea that in a pluralistic society, in which different world views, values and beliefs exist, a consensus on fundamental principles and rules is possible even though people have different views.
