Stimulus meaning, philosophy: Stimulus meaning is an expression by W.V.O. Quine (Quine, “Word and Object”, 1960), for what we can conclude from the determination of same linguistic expressions to the same stimuli for equal or changing speakers for the meaning of expressions. For this purpose, the set of reaction-triggering stimuli for a particular expression must be determined.
