DuhemVsCampbell: Dispute about the role of models. DuhemVsModels: Once you have found an acceptable theory the model that led to it no longer matters. Models/Hesse: heuristic benefit of models, two types of analogy: positive and negative. 1) positive: refers to properties that the model has in common with the theory, 2) negative: properties where this is not the case. E.g. kinetic gas theory: set of balls in motion. Movement and impact (positive analogy) but not color and hardness (negative analogy).
