His major works include The Social Animal (1972), Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me): Why We Justify Foolish Beliefs, Bad Decisions, and Hurtful Acts (1985), and Nobody Left to Hate: Teaching Compassion After Columbine (1999). His fields of specialization are social psychology, cognitive dissonance theory, educational psychology, prejudice and discrimination, and aggression.
