Brocker I 843 Terminology/Huntington: Def Fault Line Conflict/Terminology/Huntington: takes place at a local level. Def core state conflict: is a conflict of global scale. Example: Opposition Christianity-Islam. Example: Opposition China-Japan. Some of these conflicts have lasted for more than a thousand years. (1) Brocker I 844 Traditional war: Huntington sees the Soviet-Afghan and the first Gulf wars as "transition wars" that changed from "simple" invasion wars to cultural battles. (2) Brocker I 845 "Kin"-countries/related countries/relative countries: both neighbouring, actually unaffected groups and more powerful third countries are on one side or the other of the war on the fault lines. The diaspora and powerful "Kin countries" felt obliged to support members of their cultural group. This could turn local disputes into complex conflict constellations. 1. Samuel P.
