Gadamer I 61 Aesthetic experience/Kant/Gadamer: Art, [like nature], is also regarded aesthetically, i.e. it too is a case for reflective judgement.What is intentionally - and in this respect purposefully - produced, should not be referred to a concept, but wants to please in the mere assessment - just like the beauty of nature. "Beautiful art is the art of genius" thus means nothing other than: there is no other principle of judgement, no measure of concept and cognition for the beautiful in art than that of the usefulness for the feeling of freedom in the play of our cognitive faculty. The beauty in nature or art has one and the same a priori principle, which lies entirely in subjectivity.
