Redshift: Redshift is the increase in the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation (such as light) as it travels from a source to an observer. The opposite change, a decrease in wavelength and simultaneous increase in frequency and energy, is known as a blueshift. See also Cosmology, Spacetime.
